Data Centre and Disaster Recovery Site Implementation for a Metro Rail project in India

Value Delivered

Data Centre and Disaster Recovery Site Implementation for a Metro Rail project in India.

Requirement

A Metro rail project in India was looking for support in Planning, designing, implementing, and managing the IT infrastructure which includes the main Data Centre (OCC) and the Disaster Recovery Site (DR). The system should be able to handle 5 million transactions per day, 0.2 million transactions per hour and should have 99.99% availability. The system should have a capacity to handle 2000 station equipment simultaneously. A disaster recovery site also needs to be implemented at a remote location which should be capable of providing business continuity in case of a disaster / failure at the OCC.

Solution

FutureBlox successfully implemented a highly available, redundant, and scalable infrastructure for the metro rail project, which included a centralized on-premises data center (OCC) and a Disaster Recovery site at a co-location hosting center based in Bangalore, meeting Tier 4 standards. The system is designed to be highly secure, reliable, available and meets PCI DSS compliance.

Security

FutureBlox implemented IDS/IPS solution along with WAF in the network firewall. SEIM, FIM and Log Monitoring was implemented using an open-source system (ELK with Wazuh). Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration testing were performed on a quarterly basis for the infrastructure and remediation was done whenever required. Performed preventive maintenance on the servers by applying the tested critical security patches every month.

Compliance Management

The system needs to be PCI DSS complaint due to business reasons. FutureBlox designed and implemented the system based on PCI DSS requirement guidelines. FutureBlox worked with the PCI approved vendor for compliance management, maintaining the system up to date and documenting the infrastructure based on PCI guidelines. Risk assessment was performed in the infrastructure and risk register was maintained.

Disaster Recovery

DR site was designed and implemented by FutureBlox based on the customer requirement. The DR strategy adopted was warm standby, at a remote location. DR drills were conducted on an annual basis to assess the DR functionality.
